Cape Reinga Lighthouse,
Northland, Neuseeland
Located at the end of hilly, narrow Cape Reinga Road, this muchvisited lighthouse stands close to the point at which, according to Maori legend, the spirits of the dead descend to the sea-bed on their journey to the ancestral home of “Hawaiki”.

Mount Ruapehu, Central Plateau
This spectacular eruption on September 23rd 1995 of the volcano, Mount Ruapehu, had mud, steam and debris spilling forth for a number of weeks.

Tongariro National Park
A network of trails make the volcanic terrain of Tongariro National Park a delight for summer trampers. The jagged crater of Mt. Tongariro (1968m) dominates the foreground, beyond is Mt. Ngauruhoe (2291m), and at the back Mt. Ruapehu (2797m) can be seen.

Mount Ruapehu
Tongariro National Park. A constant series of eruptions from Mount Ruapehu creates an ominous wall of ash which towers threateningly over The Grand Chateau and The Whakapapa village.
